Real stories from students of CHYTA teachers.
I started doing Surya Kriya a year and a half ago, after watching Sadhguru. I have been practicing the Isha Kriya technique since the earthquake in Zagreb. After 10 months, I saw a seminar for Surya Kriya. I signed up, and the first experiences were very difficult and tiring. I can't do it, it's not for me, I'm going to give up on it — but I was persistent day after day, and by practicing more and more every day, the problems I'd had before Surya Kriya disappeared. These included knee problems, gonarthrosis and a Baker's cyst, which caused me serious difficulties, because it was hard for me to climb to any great height due to weak support in my legs. With will and perseverance, practicing day after day, my balance and the strength of my support on one leg became stronger, safer and more powerful every day, so that after 5-6 months of regular Surya Kriya practice, I felt strength and lightness in my legs, even when I walked 5-7 km a day with my dog or climbed stairs. What is most important to me is that climbing and supporting on one leg became very easy and simple, and I was proud of myself because I realized that Surya Kriya had changed my way of life through mobility and balance, and what I do has become like a song to me. I recommend Surya Kriya to everyone, regardless of age, because it is a valuable investment in later years for mobility and balance of mind, spirit and body.

Matija is committed to accurate knowledge transfer, extremely engaged and detailed — pleasant to talk to, unobtrusive, patient in answering all questions, and easy to negotiate with. Observing how Matija approaches knowledge transfer with dedication, I gained great gratitude and respect for the learned processes. By his example, Matija encouraged greater engagement and involvement in the practices I do every day, which took my experience to a deeper level. When I practice what I've learned with dedication, I feel deep peace and stability, better connection with myself and better understanding of myself. I value, respect and protect myself more. At first, it was difficult to get into a routine, but when I got into the habit of doing the practice every morning, I can no longer imagine the beginning of the day without it. I enter the day with more energy, more ready for new challenges and more focused (and I also got rid of my coffee addiction, which I thought would be impossible!). I started yoga after I had achieved almost all my set goals and desires, and still felt emptiness, restlessness and dissatisfaction. Now I can't remember the last time I felt unexplained nervousness, anxiety or insomnia. With the techniques I learned, I started to feel better about myself — what suits me and what doesn't. I easily let go of some bad habits that I struggled with before. I am clearer and more honest with myself and others about who I am and what I want. Everything is simpler and easier. Difficult situations affect me less.

For years I followed Sadhguru, and at one point I realized that just listening to all that wisdom isn't enough. Change also requires actually doing something in that direction. At the time, there were no options in Croatia for learning any Isha practices. I went to London for Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya, and then to Berlin, Belgrade, Amsterdam, Kent, and Coimbatore for the other practices... I went through all the basic and advanced programs and met a significant number of Isha teachers and practitioners. Today yoga is an integral part of my everyday life, and many of the friends I spend time with and talk to are from the Isha family. If you're on this page, you probably don't need much convincing about how much yoga can enrich your life and affect it positively. But when it comes to yoga, there are two catches. One is — you have to practice it. That one is quite important :-) And the other is that how it's performed matters a great deal. The importance of detail in execution is crucial. Whether what you do becomes wind at your back in life, or a wind against your chest... or no wind at all... really depends on whether the practices are done correctly. Now, finally, in Croatia we have an Isha Hatha Yoga teacher who is completely reliable, dedicated to what he does, patient, consistent, and — most importantly — knows every detail of what he teaches... and won't let you go until you've polished every little thing to a high shine. I'm talking, of course, about Matija. If you're looking for an Isha Hatha Yoga teacher, someone who will pass on knowledge precisely, authentically, expertly, and without compromise, I can responsibly say that person is Matija. Even if you went to the Ashram in Coimbatore, you wouldn't learn better, more, or with higher quality. I'm grateful we have someone like him in Croatia.

However good the transmission of Isha Hatha Yoga is in the classic courses, corrections from Matija become almost essential after a certain period of independent practice. The level of attention Matija is able to bring, in a one-on-one setting, to every possible detail of your practice is exactly what you need if you want to refine your technique and get the most out of the Hatha Yoga you do.
