Angamardana
Mastery over the limbs, organs and body
Angamardana is a fitness system derived from Yoga that offers everyone the opportunity to strengthen the body and reach the peak of physical and mental health. “Angamardana” means gaining mastery over the limbs, organs and other parts of the body. This practice revitalizes the body on all levels including the muscles, circulatory system, skeletal system, nervous system and energy system. It strengthens the spine, builds physical strength, fitness and endurance, taking years off the body. Structured by Sadhguru, Isha Angamardana does not use any equipment. It uses only the body and is practiced on the ground so it can be done anywhere, even while traveling.
Benefits include:
- Strengthens the spine, skeletal system and muscular system
- Builds physical strength, fitness and endurance
- Removes years off the body, creating a feeling of lightness and freedom
- Prepares the body for Hatha Yoga
What to Expect
Angamardana is taught by CHYTA teachers as a structured practice, built for steady progress rather than a one-off class:
Practice Format
A vigorous, no-equipment sequence of movements practiced on the ground using only body weight, so it can be done anywhere — at home, outdoors, or while traveling.
Who It's For
Anyone wanting a serious physical practice. Those with a fitness, sport or martial arts background often take to it quickly, while beginners build up gradually in stages.
Learning Path
Introduced through a multi-day program with a certified CHYTA teacher, then practiced regularly at home to build strength and endurance over time.
In Other Words…
All those who want to ensure that the physical body is capable, fully listens and does what we want from it, will achieve this very quickly through the practice of Angamardana. Looking at all the Sadhguru Gurukulam Hatha Yoga programs, Angamardana, along with Surya Shakti, is most oriented towards the physical aspect. All those who love exercise will love Angamardana.
